5things I've learnt about Nursing school

1. It's not all about chooking injection. Yes I said it. Infact I wish I could scream it, especially to my naija people. Chineke, whenever I tell Nigerians home and abroad that I'm studying for a nursing degree, the question I get is " so have you started giving injection?". No no no, please stap it! We provide support and care as well as psychomotor skills.

2. It's not about wearing white on white with stethoscope. Omo nursing ain't easy biko. There's more to it than the professional gear. I come from a country were people are more interested in their professional title or identity than the work. So far, that spirit has been killed, kilt, burned, burnt 🔥. I have learnt to carry my profession with pride not just in title but in my actions and skills.

3. It's taught me to love. Cliche right? I know but honestly, I've learnt to get outside my bubble and treat people exactly how I would like to be treated. I ask myself all the time 'if you were on that hospital bed would you want a nurse like You?', 'if this was your mom or dad, what sort of care would you expect?". Trust me these questions are humbling. The best part is I've been applying this concept to my personal life and it's never failed me (well not yet)

4. I've learnt that childbirth is the greatest process. Oh my lord witnessing a delivery or being part of each stage leading to delivery and seeing it on t.v are two different things. Kai honestly, even though childbirth is difficult, it's a process I definitely want to experience. I feel like media has deceived us so much that we think it's just a 1, 2,3 it's out something. Hian it not o, presently this area is my final rotation and all I can say us I have a whole new level of respect for my ma! Now I fully understand why she gets mad at my silly actions or why she's so attached or why she feels my hurt even when she's miles away ❤️

5. It has taught me to be humble. Kai you will hit certain roadblocks in life and nursing school has showed be things man! I have learnt to not act like I know it all. I have learn to not be ashamed of looking stupid and feeling vulnerable. I have learnt to accept the wrong, take feedback and apply were necessary
Honestly it's such a testimony to me that this chapter is almost closing. However like popsy would say it's not over till its over. Done in 3..boards in 4. To my silent cheerleaders you have no idea how much I appreciate you
